Sofia is a PhD student working on the bioengineering of artificial extremozymes for more sustainable biocatalysis since October 2023. She received her B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Bern in 2021. She enrolled at the same institution for the master’s degree in molecular Life Sciences. Sofia conducted her master thesis under the supervision of Prof. Francesca Paradisi, investigating bifunctional fusion enzymes as an attractive tool to facilitate biocatalytic cascades for chemical synthesis. Besides, she completed a 6-​month internship at the catalysis department of Hoffman-La Roche in Basel, where she studied the immobilization of transaminases and their applications.
